Receiver Retrieval by the Riverbank

In preparation for the resumption of our tracking projects off next Spring, our Telemetry team have been out doing some limited fieldwork.

Our Salmon & Sea Trout Tracking Co-ordinator, Dr Lorna Wilkie and Post-Doctoral Fellow, Dr Jessica Rodger, finally got back out on the riverbank to retrieve receivers, which were deployed earlier this year in preparation for the 2020 acoustic tracking project.

Building on the success of the 2019 tagging season, the project had been refined ahead of the 2020 season aiming to further build on the knowledge from year 1.

The Moray Firth Tracking Project was, at the time of launch, Europe’s largest acoustic tagging and tracking project to ever be undertaken on salmon smolts.

This ambitious project will return to our project rivers in Spring 2021.
