It is with great sadness to hear that Dr. Stephen Marsh-Smith has gone to the great river in the sky.
We have lost a champion of Salmon. In 1995 Dr Marsh Smith, with other riparian owners launched the Wye and Usk Foundation to try and determine what was happening to our Salmon in the two rivers. It was his determination, ambition and relentless energy that was vital for setting up the Foundation and to make the very necessary improvements to our rivers for the benefit of our fish.
In 2011 Dr Marsh Smith was awarded an OBE for his service to the environment and the conservation of the Wye and Usk. We are eternally grateful for his dedication towards our rivers and beloved salmon.
We send our prayers and thoughts to his wife Seren and their children at this very sad time.
Words on behalf of Tiggy Pettifer, Member of the Wye and Usk Foundation & Fundraising Officer for the Atlantic Salmon Trust.
